• Arc Fault / AFCI (18xC, 3x11, 150): The system detected electrical arcing in the DC wiring or roof connectors. Do not reset; professional testing is required.
• Isolation & Ground Faults (18x86, 03x9A, 18x3D): Indicates DC electricity leaking to ground, often caused by moisture intrusion, rodent damage, or abraded wiring. 
• Hardware & Capacitor Errors (18xB5, 18xB7, 2x10): An internal inverter component has failed, requiring diagnostic confirmation and warranty replacement
• Optimizers Not Reporting (P_OK Count Missing): One or more panels have stopped producing due to a failed or disconnected DC optimizer on the roof. 
• Grid & Voltage Trips (18x37, 18x38, 2x5): The inverter paused due to utility grid fluctuations or a tripped breaker. 

The 5 Most Common Reasons Roof Optimizers Stop Working

Internal Board / Diode Failure (Hardware Breakdown):

• What happens: Prolonged high-heat exposure under the roof shingles and daily power cycling can cause the internal capacitors, bypass diodes, or circuit boards inside the sealed optimizer to fail.
• Diagnostic sign: The optimizer outputs 0V instead of the standard 1V DC safety standby voltage when disconnected from the inverter string, or shows infinite resistance across test leads.

Loose, Corroded, or Melted MC4 Connectors (Water Intrusion & Arcing):

• What happens: SolarEdge optimizers have short leads connecting to the panel and long leads connecting to adjacent optimizers. If connectors aren't fully seated or water penetrates the weather seals, high DC resistance generates intense heat, melting connectors and tripping Arc Fault (AFCI) or Isolation (Riso) errors.
• Diagnostic sign: Burn marks visible on MC4 plugs or isolation errors occurring immediately after morning dew or rain.

Loss of Inverter Communication / Pairing (PLC Signal Loss):

• What happens: Optimizers use Power Line Communication (PLC) over DC wiring to report status. If there is line noise, improper string length, or an inverter firmware glitch, the optimizer produces power but the inverter fails to count it in SetApp (e.g., showing P_OK: 19/20).
• Diagnostic sign: Panels visibly generate energy, but monitoring reports a "Missing Optimizer" alert.

Rodent & Pest Damage (Chewed Wiring Under the Array):

• What happens: Squirrels, roof rats, and birds nest under residential solar panels, chewing through the DC wire jackets.
• Diagnostic sign: Ground faults (Error 18x86, 18x3D), blown optimizer fuses, or sudden drop-offs in string production without obvious hardware fault.

Reverse Polarity or String Configuration Mismatch:
